Yellowstone Institute January 24 – 28th
A group of nine students from the Biology/Earth Science class and three
staff, including our Science teacher, David Burleigh and Assistant Clinical
Director, Bill Bruce, enjoyed a successful trip to Yellowstone National
Park. The group observed wolves and buffalo in their natural habitat and
participated in endless activities that created a phenomenal learning
experience. The Yellowstone Institute staff is comprised of world-class
biologists who helped introduce wolves back to the west. Their first-hand
knowledge is a wonderful adjunct to our studies in the science and history
of the region and provides a unique close-up examination of one of our
greatest protected natural environments.
Presidential Classroom February 16 - 23
Eight BCA students had the exciting opportunity to go to Washington DC and
participate in the Presidential Scholars Program. Claude Bisson eagerly
prepared these students in his government class prior to the journey. They
were very prepared for all the debates and discussion topics. Our
Presidential Classroom Scholars Program offers students a backstage pass to
the inner workings of the government. They had the opportunity to observe
our federal government at work and gained a better understanding of the
importance of active citizenship and how individuals can make a difference
in the American political system. Another highlight of this tour was the
experience for a BCA student who was chosen to lay the wreath at the Tomb of
the Unknown Soldier. This was quite an honor.
These BCA students and staff have received a special
invitation to attend the inauguration in January!! Congratulations!
